For the workpiece before being sprayed, spray protective layer (paint or other anti-corrosion materials), the workpiece surface should be carefully treated, known as pre-treatment.
The quality of pre-treatment affects the adhesion, appearance, moisture resistance and corrosion resistance of the coating, because the best film (layer) is adhered to the surface that is carefully cleaned. If the pretreatment work is not done well, the rust will continue to spread under the coating, making the coating flake off. After careful cleaning of the surface and the general simple (manual sandpaper or brush) cleaning workpiece, with exposure coating comparison, life can be 4-5 times. There are many methods for surface cleaning, but the most commonly accepted method is: A. solvent cleaning B. Pickling C. hand tools D. Power tools.
Of these methods, each has its own scope of application, but of all surface cleaning methods, sandblasting is the most thorough, versatile, and extensive, for the following reasons:
A. Sand blasting is better than other methods to clean the workpiece surface speed and thoroughly.
B. What other process allows you to choose between four accepted and generally accepted levels of cleanliness.
Sand Blasting
Sandblasting is the use of compressed air as the power to form a high-speed jet beam, the jet material (copper ore, quartz sand, iron sand, sea sand, emery, etc.) and other high-speed jet to the surface of the workpiece to be treated, so that the surface appearance of the workpiece changes, due to the impact of abrasive on the surface of the workpiece and cutting action, so that the surface of the workpiece to obtain a certain degree of cleanliness and different roughness, The mechanical properties of the workpiece surface are improved, so it improves the fatigue of the workpiece, increases the adhesion between it and the coating, extends the durability of the coating film, and is also conducive to the flow and decoration of the coating.
Comparison with other pre-treatment processes (such as pickling and tool cleaning)
1) Sandblasting is the most thorough, the most general, the most rapid, the most efficient cleaning method.
2) Sandblasting can be arbitrarily selected between different roughness, while other processes are unable to achieve this point. Manual grinding can produce rough surface, but the speed is too slow. Chemical solvent cleaning cleaning surface is too smooth, which is not conducive to coating bonding.
Sand Blasting Application
A. Work piece coating, work piece bonding before processing
Sandblasting can remove all the dirt on the surface of the workpiece rust, and establish a very important basic pattern on the surface of the workpiece (usually called the wool surface), and can be replaced by different particle size abrasive, to achieve different degrees of roughness, greatly improve the workpiece and coating, plating bonding force. Or make the bonding pieces stick more firmly, better quality.
B. Cleaning and polishing of castings and forging parts after heat treatment
Sand blasting can clean up all the dirt (such as oxide skin, oil and other residue) on the surface of the workpiece after the casting and forging and heat treatment, and polish the surface of the workpiece to improve the finish of the workpiece and beautify the workpiece. Sandblasting cleaning can make the workpiece show uniform metal color, make the workpiece appearance more beautiful, to beautify the role of decoration.
C. Machining parts burr cleaning and surface beautification
Sand blasting can clean the small burr on the surface of the workpiece, and make the surface of the workpiece more smooth, eliminate the harm of the burr, improve the grade of the workpiece. And sandblasting can play a small corner at the junction of the workpiece surface, so that the workpiece is more beautiful and more precise.
D. Improve the mechanical properties of parts
After the mechanical parts are sandblasted, the uniform fine concave and convex surface (basic schema) can be produced on the surface of the parts, so that the lubricating oil can be stored, so that the lubrication conditions can be improved, and the noise can be reduced to improve the service life of the machinery.
E. Effect of light decoration
a. the surface of various workpiece polishing, so that the surface of the workpiece is more beautiful.
b. Make the workpiece to achieve smooth and non-reflective requirements. For some special purpose work pieces, sandblasting can be achieved at will with different reflections or matte. Such as stainless steel workpiece, wooden furniture surface matte, frosted glass surface of the pattern, as well as the surface of the cloth wool processing.
F. Stress relief and surface strengthening
By hitting the surface of the workpiece, the sand ball eliminates the stress and increases the surface strength of the workpiece, such as the surface treatment of the spring, machining tool and aircraft blade.
